Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

~Matthew 28:16-20~

  • pastor Joey chang

Pastor Joey Chang and his wife, Heea, have served at Kake Memorial Presbyterian Church on the remote island of Kake, Alaska, since 2011. Joey felt called to be a full-time missionary through The Antioch Partners in 2019. Kake is a unique place with most of the population being Native Americans who have lived there for hundreds of years. This community of 550 people faces many challenges, including high-cost living, isolation, depression, substance abuse, and domestic violence. Joey and Heea are especially burdened by the passing of people who died without having salvation in Jesus.

Joey started a soup kitchen, “Peace of Kake,” which has served lunch to the whole community every Friday for the past nine years with a delicious meal, devotions, and fellowship. He also started a recovery program for people with addiction issues. Heea helps with the “Good News Club” and “Youth Café,” reaching out to younger children and teenagers. They recently opened the new KHOP (Kake House of Peace) Ministry with a Community Food Pantry and Cafe. They are now hoping and praying to train the young adults to become future Christian leaders for their community through an internship program. You can find more information about their ministry by clicking here.

  • casa de esperanza - Art & brenda koenes

Casa de Esperanza, which is overseen by Art and Brenda Koenes, is located in San Carlos, Mexico. Casa de Esperanza has become a year-round facility with two very different "seasons." In the winter, more than a dozen short-term mission teams from Canada and the U.S. come through taking part in a variety of hands-on missional experiences from work projects to street ministry, all in partnership with the local Mexican churches. In the summer, while some Canadian and American groups do brave the heat, Casa de Esperanza becomes a retreat center for the local Mexican churches. Art and Brenda continue to spend their summers farming outside of Bozeman and spend their winters serving in Mexico. Together they have created a strong foundation for leadership and mentoring in their team. More information can be found by clicking here.

  • Don & Janet Ekstrand

Don and Janet Ekstrand serve at a retreat center called Yamanaka Chalet (YC) in Japan. YC is a retreat facility on a lake at the base of Mt. Fuji owned by SEND International. At the Chalet, they receive missionary families, Japanese pastors, church retreats, and campus workers with their students for times of rest, refreshment, and renewal. In urban Japan's extremely fast-paced, stressful lifestyle, the Chalet is a place where Christians can slow down and reflect on their lives with Christ and the grace he shows for everyday living. Their desire is for YC to be a place where those in ministry and those seeking God will find the grace and the sustaining power of the Spirit that brings peace to their daily lives.
